The recently launched FNT CommandMobile app makes access to the FNT Command Platform independent of time and location. It not only provides easy access to all important infrastructure data documented in FNT Command, but also extensive visualization options for racks, devices, connections, and signal paths. Peer Dierolf, Product Manager at FNT, explains in an interview what makes the innovative app so special.
What features come with the FNT CommandMobile app?
Our app enables mobile access to the FNT Command Platform via smartphone or tablet. It is tailored to mobile devices and supports selected functionalities of the FNT Command Platform, such as the clear display of the object data stored in the repository, the technical information, as well as the connections and signal paths. In addition, there is a convenient scanning function that makes it easy to search for and find objects documented in FNT Command simply by using the camera on the smartphone or tablet. The app also includes a mobile inventory management system that can be used to manage inventory directly in the company warehouse and to store and retrieve equipment.
In which typical situations is it particularly useful for companies and government organizations to use FNT CommandMobile as a supplement to the FNT Command Platform?
A field service job at a remote location is a typical situation. Thanks to the app, service technicians in the field always have access to all asset information and can perform the necessary work more efficiently – no matter where the mission takes place. In addition, the integrated signal tracing helps to track signals directly on site across all components involved in a network, making troubleshooting easier. With the app’s offline mode, some functions can even be used without an Internet connection.
Which devices does FNT CommandMobile support?
The app runs on devices with both Android and iOS operating systems. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a smartphone or a tablet. Thanks to the responsive design, the application adapts flexibly to different screen sizes.

We are currently in the concept phase for planning protocols. In this process, we are working closely with interested FNT customers to get feedback early on so that we can adapt the app to the needs of the users in the best possible way.
