FNT Command 13 Enables Telco Operators to Plan and Model Networks More Efficiently

Today’s telco operators and service providers are increasingly deploying new technologies and IT infrastructure to support digital transformation initiatives. FNT Command 13 offers numerous functional extensions, technical improvements, and usability optimizations to simplify the management of complex IT, data center, and network infrastructures that underpin the deployment of digital transformation services.

FNT Command 13 features an extended auto-routing functionality and the inventory of assemblies in the warehouse. Optimized planning of cable and device relocations as well as the extension of the historization to users, groups, roles and privileges are also part of the new scope of services. To enable users to analyze infrastructure and service data more efficiently, FNT GraphicCenter and FNT GeoMaps, a powerful GIS application based on Esri ArcGIS, are integrated with FNT Command 13.

With the improved configuration of tables, users benefit from a better overview and individual customization options. The navigation tree has been further developed within FNT Command 13 and the results tables can now be configured individually. Users can easily show and hide columns and flexibly change their order and width.

To plan and model telecommunications networks more efficiently, packet data services can now be switched via auto-routing. A number of available routes are identified using configurable routing criteria and the best possible route is determined. This allows a new service to be created based on unused and planned logical resources. In addition, different network technologies can be mapped more flexibly with the new “Trail” service category. Now, services can be switched without or with incomplete routing.

It’s also now possible to change the service type for bearers and services. This means that resources and bandwidths can be adjusted quickly and easily without dismantling the telco structure. Additionally, FNT Command 13 provides cut-in and cut-out functions at the logical (bearer) level to support network expansion measures. For example, network nodes can be looped into an existing connection structure or removed. This is possible both directly in the current state and in connection with planning, which increases flexibility for the user.

For optimized cable management, fibers can now be managed more comprehensively and flexibly thanks to expanded functions. For example, cable types can be individually defined with regard to bundles, numbers of fibers and color codes, and additional information can be linked at the individual fiber level. In addition, the port and fiber status can be more easily managed.

The routing functionality in Signal Management can now also be used if the start and end points of the route are in the same zone. This allows auto-routing to be used even more flexibly, for example also for routing within a room in the data center. An additional function enables splices to be created between fibers that are in different cassettes. This allows cables to be planned and documented seamlessly. In addition, more detailed splice information can be used in signal tracing.

FNT Command 13 also streamlines IP management. The search for free IP networks of a certain size (according to CIDR notation) can be easily carried out within a defined area. The results are clearly displayed and networks can be created directly and quickly from them.
